Inland Electrical installs solar systems for businesses in Darwin and Greater Darwin. NT-owned and operated since 2001, our accredited installers design systems around the needs of the property. A commercial solar enquiry is most useful when it starts with how the site and business operate, rather than a headline price alone.

A Commercial Building With Solar Pannels On It— Inland Electrical in Humpty Doo, NT

Begin with the business and the premises

A recent electricity bill can help start the conversation. Note when the business uses the most power, its trading hours, key equipment and any expected changes to the way the premises will be used. If equipment, staffing or operating hours may change in the future, include that in the enquiry so it can be considered alongside current use.

Tell us whether the premises is owner-occupied or leased. For a lease, ask whether landlord or building-management permission is needed before roof access or installation work is planned. Describe the roof or potential installation area, shade, access and anything already installed there. Safe photos can be helpful, but they are a starting point and site details still need to be assessed for the property.

Questions for a commercial solar proposal

When comparing proposals, ask what equipment, mounting and installation work are included. Ask which site assumptions have been made, what still needs checking and whether any electrical, roof-access or other work sits outside the quoted scope.

If work could affect trading, ask what access, timing and possible downtime need to be considered before the scope is finalised. If the site has tenants, shared areas or building rules, identify who needs to be involved in those decisions. These questions help make sure the proposal relates to the business's own premises and trading needs.

Before approving a proposal, ask how metering and monitoring information will be handled, what happens at commissioning and what information will be provided at handover. Ask who will explain the proposed system, its operating information and any relevant product or installation warranty terms. Keep the answers with the proposal so the scope can be reviewed against the business's own requirements.
